The Guyra Unit of the NSW State Emergency Service (SES) is a group of volunteers who provide immediate assistance to our local community during emergencies.

The major roles of SES are responding to floods and storms, however we also provide support to other emergency services such as the Rural Fire Service, Police and VRA, and assist other community-based organisations to run their own events.

Guyra SES unit, in conjunction with the Tingha SES unit, assist in emergencies occurring in the Guyra Shire which extends from Ebor in the east, to Copeton Dam near Inverell in the west. Also, the Guyra SES Unit has regularly responded to requests for assistance outside our local area, such as the Sydney bushfires in early 2002.

Being an SES volunteer is about helping your community become safer as you assist in responding to floods, storms and other emergencies. The SES offers many opportunities for you to contribute to your community.
