The VRA (Volunteer Rescue Association) is the primary Emergency Service agency responsible for undertaking general Land Based Rescue Operations in the Guyra Shire. The VRA unit is accredited by the State Rescue Board of NSW and tasked by the NSW Police Force. The NSW VRA was formed in 1969 at the recommendation of the then NSW Police commissioner to provide a state-wide Rescue Service to support Police and other Emergency Services.

The Guyra VRA conducts member training weekly on Tuesday nights at 7:30pm and welcomes interest from suitable prospective members who are keen to commit to a Rescue training regime, and serve the community on a voluntary basis.

The VRA takes pride in the motto, “A HELPING HAND, ANYWHERE, ANYTIME”.
